Nikon Expo Solutions 2007 : Nov. 27th saw Nikon stage the first day of the Expo Solution in Olympia show casing their latest hardware the D300 and D3 DSLR's. I took the opportunity to attend and see what was going on and also attend the portraiture, fashion, action and wedding classes that they put on. I met several wonderful Nikon photographers Mark (wildlife, portrait/fashion), John, Don (Sports photographers) and my friend Loredana at the event. I have to thank the guys and gals from Nikon for laying on an excellent portraiture/wedding/fashion classes throughout the day. Many special thanks to Katie who was and is a simply wonderful, supremely confident model who just made the three classes look so easy. Me, I was exhausted by the end of play. Note: Lighting and WB was at time really difficult (three different types of light) and the E1's AF was clearly showing its age, while the 35-100F2 is just an amazing bit of glass. All images shot as RAW using Olympus E1 + Zuiko 35-100F2 ED Top Pro lens + FL50 strobe Please note that none of these images are for sale.

Nikon Solutions Expo 2006 : My visit to the Nikon Solutions Expo 2006 at Olympia in London. I think this year I may have been one of two people not using Nikon cameras, Mel's girl Jenny I think would have been the other with a Fuji at the show as I showed up with my camouflaged Oly E1 + 14-54ZD. 2007 Year of the Pig : 18th February 2007- London's China Town celebrated the New Year - the Year of the Pig. Approximately 300,000 visitors attended the celebrations. The Lion dance started from Little Newport Street, shots here show the lion Dance and various other scenes and hopefully I've captured some of the atmosphere and fun of the day and all within a 1.5-2hr slot. PS. I really wish I had an E330 or L1 so that I could have really used the LCD and its liveview feature and I think every DSLR should have it. If your shooting an event like todays where you need to be discreet as well it would be ideal. Seeing all these DSLR shooters pointing cameras blindly over the heads is just silly and something I didn't even attempt but otherwise the E1 I think didn't too badly. A shots converted from RAW using LightZone for linux.

Alternative Fashion Show 2008 : London's Alternative Fashion Week was held in Spitafields Market from 21st April - 25th April. I only had a very short time at the event and the first real test with the E3 shooting a cat walk. I was at Thursday's fashion show and found the set full with photographers and members of the public and ended up taking up a not so good position. Thoughts - need more practice at doing cat walks and learning to use the AF with the E3. Cat walk shoots definitely isn't my kind of photography.
